The Citadel men’s tennis team was defeated by UNCG with a score of 5–2 in Southern Conference play on Saturday morning in Charleston, South Carolina.

UNCG secured the doubles point after winning at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Bulldogs managed a win at No. 3 doubles as Tucker Hendrix and Reece Beckendorf posted a 6–4 victory.

In singles matches, The Citadel earned two points. Brady Gober won his match at the No. 2 position in three sets, while Graham Hardin achieved a straight-set win at No. 6 singles. Ted Bagwell pushed his opponent to three sets at the No. 4 spot but ultimately lost.

UNCG claimed five out of six singles matches to secure the overall team result.

Head coach Chuck Kriese said after the match: “This was a tough loss in a three-hour battle,” he said. “Give UNCG credit for prevailing a bit longer and better than we did. Our team is a darn good one, and we will keep growing.”

The Citadel is scheduled to play two matches against Georgia in Athens, Georgia, on Sunday, February 15, with start times set for 10 AM and 2 PM.
