The Citadel tennis team is set for a busy weekend with three matches, starting with a Southern Conference game at Mercer on April 11, followed by a doubleheader against Duke at home on April 12.

This series of matches is important as the Bulldogs aim to improve their record and gain momentum late in the season. The games provide opportunities for both conference and non-conference competition.

The first match will see The Citadel (5-23, 0-6 Southern Conference) travel to Macon, Georgia, to face Mercer (8-12, 3-3 Southern Conference) at the Copelan Tennis Complex. Following this road game, the Bulldogs return to Charleston’s Earle Tennis Center for two matches against Duke (10-12, 5-7 Atlantic Coast Conference), scheduled for Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs recently lost 6-1 to East Tennessee State University on Wednesday. Ted Bagwell secured The Citadel’s only point during his final home match. Mercer enters Saturday’s contest after losing narrowly to Samford earlier in the week. Meanwhile, Duke last played Miami on April 5 and is expected to host North Carolina before heading south for Sunday’s doubleheader.

Fans can follow updates about The Citadel tennis program through its official website or by following @CitadelMTen and @citadel_mten on social media platforms X and Instagram.

These upcoming matches represent an opportunity for players like Bagwell and his teammates to close out their season strongly against competitive opponents.
