Citadel wrestling defeats Bellarmine and Davidson in home doubleheader

The Citadel wrestling team secured two victories in a Southern Conference doubleheader on Sunday at McAlister Field House, defeating Bellarmine 22-13 and Davidson 20-14. The wins improved The Citadel’s record to 10-7 overall and 6-1 in conference competition.

Key performances included Jacob Silka winning both his matches at 174 pounds, Brodie Porter earning a fall at 184 pounds against Bellarmine, and late decision wins from Adam Ortega (197 lbs) and Roy Price III (285 lbs). Against Bellarmine, the Bulldogs overcame an early deficit to claim victory. In the matchup with Davidson, the contest remained close until late wins helped secure the result for The Citadel.

The day began with Gylon Sims winning by decision over Joe Calvin of Bellarmine at 125 pounds. Other notable results included Thomas Snipes edging Noah Hall at 165 pounds and Kyrel Leavell earning a major decision at 157 pounds. For Davidson, Sims received a forfeit win at 125 pounds, while Marcus Wright picked up a major decision at 133 pounds.
