The Citadel wrestling team is preparing to host rival VMI in the final match of the regular season on Sunday, February 22. The event, which will also serve as Senior Day for the Bulldogs, will take place at McAlister Field House in Charleston, South Carolina, starting at 2 p.m. Eastern Time.

Currently, The Citadel shares the top spot in the Southern Conference with Appalachian State and Chattanooga. All three teams have a conference record of 6-1, with each having one loss against one of the other two teams. The Citadel defeated Chattanooga; Appalachian State beat The Citadel; and Chattanooga won over Appalachian State. This three-way tie means that if The Citadel secures a win against VMI on Sunday, it will guarantee at least a share of its first Southern Conference regular-season title since 2004.

The projected lineup for The Citadel includes Gylon Sims or Tyler Washburn at 125 pounds, Teegan Vasquez or Sam Cherichello at 133 pounds, Marcus Wright at 141 pounds, Carson DesRosier at 149 pounds (ranked #28), Kyrel Leavell at 157 pounds (ranked #26), Thomas Snipes or Parker Kearns at 165 pounds (Snipes ranked #21), Jacob Silka or Braxton Russell at 174 pounds, Brodie Porter at 184 pounds, Adam Ortega at 197 pounds, and Roy Price III or Mason Ayers in the heavyweight category.

A win on Sunday would allow The Citadel to finish its regular season campaign with a significant achievement not seen by the program in more than twenty years.
