City of Charleston hosts annual Light the Lake holiday celebration at Colonial Lake

The City of Charleston will launch its holiday season with the annual Light the Lake event at Colonial Lake. The celebration is scheduled for Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Broad Street.

The event will include the official lighting of the Colonial Lake tree and a countdown led by Mayor Cogswell. Luminaries will be placed around the lake, creating a festive atmosphere. Entertainment on the main stage will feature Shortwave Kitsch performing “Letters to Santa” and Fouché Sheppard presenting a Gullah rendition of ’Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Families attending can participate in activities such as a scavenger hunt, candy cane hunt, and snowball fight zone. There will also be photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Local food trucks are expected to serve attendees during the event. The lineup includes The Biscuit Shed, Lola’s Lumpia Food Truck, D’Allesandro’s Pizza, Pure Fluff Co., and Coastal Cowgirl Coffee.

Mayor Cogswell and District 8 Councilmember Mike Seekings are expected to attend alongside residents and visitors.
