The City of Charleston has announced a change in venue for its upcoming public engagement meeting regarding the future Johns Island Recreation Center. The meeting, originally scheduled at a different location, will now take place at Haut Gap Middle School.
City officials aim to collect feedback from community members on preliminary design concepts for the new recreation center. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear presentations from Mayor Coswell, District 3 Councilmember Jim McBride, and members of the project’s design team. Residents are encouraged to participate and share their input during the session.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 20, 2025, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Haut Gap Middle School, located at 1861 Bohicket Road on Johns Island.
