The City of Charleston Department of Housing and Community Development has opened the application process for federal housing and community development grants for the 2026–2027 program year. The available funding comes from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development through three programs: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA).

For the upcoming program year, which will run from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027, the city expects to receive about $935,000 in CDBG funds, $530,000 in HOME funds, and $1.2 million in HOPWA funds. These resources are intended to support projects that align with the city’s 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan.

Organizations interested in applying should note that requests for CDBG or HOME funding cannot exceed $50,000 per project. Eligible groups may submit applications for one or more programs depending on their project’s focus.

Applications must be submitted via the City’s Neighborly Software portal by January 30, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Late submissions will not be considered. More information about applications and guidelines can be found at https://portal.neighborlysoftware.com/CHARLESTONSC/Participant.

For further details, applicants can contact Tiffany Pressley, Community Development Coordinator, at pressleyt@charleston-sc.gov.
