The City of Charleston, in collaboration with community partners, will open Warming Centers on Sunday, January 11, and Monday, January 12, 2026. This action is in response to forecasted cold weather and aims to provide safe and warm accommodations for individuals and families who need shelter.
All listed Warming Centers will accept men, women, and children. Pets are not permitted at any of the locations.
The designated Warming Center sites include Holy City Missions at Aldersgate UMC (1444 Remount Road, North Charleston), which will admit guests from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Transportation is available through CARTA’s Route 13 with stops at Remount Road and Allison Avenue. Hibben United Methodist Church (690 Coleman Boulevard, Mount Pleasant) will operate as a warming center on Sunday only. Admission hours are from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with transportation provided by Hibben UMC from Citadel Square Baptist Church downtown at 6:30 p.m. Each morning, CARTA will offer free transportation from the center. Seacoast Church – Summerville (301 E. 5th North Street, Summerville) will also serve as a warming center with admission between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. On weekdays only, TriCounty Link will provide free transportation along its standard route to and from this location.
