City of Charleston to host community banking event for first-time homebuyers

The City of Charleston Department of Housing and Community Development is organizing a Community Banking Event for first-time homebuyers. The event will take place on January 16, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Charleston Gaillard Center, located at 2 George Street in Charleston, South Carolina.

The event aims to assist those interested in purchasing the Juniper Street townhomes. Attendees will have the chance to apply and become pre-qualified for homeownership on site. In addition, information about financial literacy and resources for first-time homebuyers will be provided.

Banking partners participating in the event include Pinnacle Financial and Southern First. Those planning to attend are asked to bring a driver’s license, W-2 form, two pay stubs, and a completed Homeownership Initiative Program application.
