Hafemeister scores career-high as Charleston Southern falls to High Point

Charleston Southern University’s men’s basketball team faced High Point University on Wednesday night at the Quebin Center in High Point, North Carolina. The game ended with a win for the Panthers, who defeated the Buccaneers 80-55.

In the first half, Charleston Southern struggled with turnovers, giving up possession 17 times. This allowed High Point to build a significant lead of 22 points by halftime, with the score at 47-25. Jesse Hafemeister led Charleston Southern in scoring during the first half, contributing 12 points—almost half of his team’s total before the break.

Charleston Southern started strong in the second half with a 20-6 run in the opening six minutes, narrowing High Point’s lead to ten points at 55-45. Brycen Blaine was key during this stretch, scoring 11 of those points after having only five in the first half.

However, High Point regained control as they continued to force turnovers and maintain efficient play. The Panthers pulled away for an 80-55 victory, handing Charleston Southern another conference loss.

Jesse Hafemeister finished as Charleston Southern’s top scorer with 21 points, marking his highest point total in a Big South Conference game. Brycen Blaine was second in scoring for the Buccaneers with 18 points and also led the team with seven rebounds.

Charleston Southern will play their next game on Saturday, February 7th against USC Upstate Spartans in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
