Leela Langston and Bronwyn Conroy of the Charleston Cougars softball team have received Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) honors following the team’s 4-1 record during their opening weekend.
Langston was recognized as CAA Co-Player of the Week after delivering three consecutive walk-off hits against George Mason, Siena, and St. John’s. She posted a .529 batting average over the weekend, going 9-for-17 with five RBIs and four runs scored. In a game against George Mason, Langston drove in the winning run in extra innings. The next day, she delivered another walk-off single to defeat Siena and later hit a game-winning single against St. John’s.
Conroy earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors after scoring five runs in her first collegiate games. She finished the weekend with a .474 batting average, nine hits, five runs scored, and three RBIs. Conroy had three multi-hit games and recorded her first multi-RBI performance against George Mason. She also stole seven bases during the series.
Charleston is scheduled to host Akron on Wednesday, February 11 at Patriots Point for its first mid-week game of the season. The game will begin at 5:00 p.m., with live coverage available online.
