Palmetto Family Homecare is seeking Personal Care Aides to support clients with ALS and other neurological conditions in the Lowcountry region. The organization describes itself as a faith-based independent provider that focuses on delivering compassionate in-home care, particularly for individuals living with complex health conditions such as ALS, MS, Parkinson’s, and Autism. The company emphasizes values including compassion, education, reliability, and building relationships.

The responsibilities for the position include assisting clients with daily activities like bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Personal Care Aides are also expected to monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs and reporting changes promptly. Other duties involve supporting meal preparation and feeding to promote nutrition and hydration; using specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe transfers; maintaining accurate care plans while following HIPAA regulations; performing light cleaning tasks; and providing emotional support and companionship.

Candidates should have prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes or home health environments. Knowledge of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care or hospice care is highly desirable. Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism is considered an advantage. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required for applicants; additional training in patient observation or medication administration is also beneficial. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance procedures and patient monitoring techniques is preferred.
