R.B. Stall High School Foxtrot Flight cadets assisted more than 30 families with food and clothing through a community giveaway, according to a May 1 announcement. The event was led by Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets Rayven Noisette, Nadia Chavis, and Maleah Burgess.

The project originated from an assignment called “Building Leaders Through Community Service,” which emphasizes the importance of leadership development through service. Cadets are encouraged to identify needs in their community and find ways their unit can help address those needs.

Cadets collected clothing and shoes with the support of the Stall school community. They also partnered with the Community Resource Center to provide grocery bags, while Keith Smalls from MUSC Health prepared hot meals at the event. This ensured that attendees received both groceries and a freshly cooked meal.

“Their initiative, leadership, and commitment to service were exceptional and reflect the very best of our district,” said Dr. Ashley N. Gilmore, 1st Lieutenant, USAFR Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Stall. “Their accountability and dedication to serving others were instrumental in its success. The families were very grateful, which served to reinforce the impact of our cadets’ service as they continue to grow as leaders.”

The giveaway took place at R.B. Stall High School on Saturday, April 25, where participating families received refreshments along with essential goods. Cadet Noisette said, “It feels good to know that I can do this myself, and you’re never too young to help someone.”

Dr. Gilmore added: “The cadets’ initiative, planning, and leadership made a meaningful impact on our community.” The effort involved many contributors including teachers at Stall High School, School Resource Officer Dionte McFarland, nursing staff members who donated items or supported logistics during the event.
