79 percent of applicants to the College of Charleston were admitted for fall 2018

At the College of Charleston, 92 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 64 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Charleston enrolled 10,783 students in fall 2018, including 9,880 in undergraduate and 903 in graduate programs, data shows. 5.3 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

52 percent of undergraduates are residents of South Carolina, and 47 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (77 percent) and Black or African American (8 percent).

The school admitted 79 percent of the 11,675 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 24 percent enrolled.
