The Charleston Literary Festival will return to in-person sessions with the College of Charleston as their exclusive partner, Nov. 5-14, following a year of solely virtual content due to the pandemic.
Features of the partnership between the festival and the college's alumni association, include financial, promotional and logistical support. The college will also be providing space for several events on campus at the Sottile Theatre and Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center.
“As a festival partner, our students, faculty, and staff will have the unique opportunity to interact with these renowned professionals in ways they would not be able to otherwise,” Elizabeth Meyer-Bernstein, dean of the honors college, told The College Today.
As an internationally-renowned festival, the Charleston Literary Festival offers patrons the opportunity to interact with authors and their work, engaging in conversations on topics such as history, biographies, science, feminism, race relations, social justice, art, the human condition, and more.
“We’re thrilled for our campus community, particularly our students, to engage with these writers and witness firsthand what it takes to be an author and how these types of events can impact the community and the world-at-large," Meyer-Bernstein said.
The Charleston Literary Festival, once known as "Charleston to Charleston," was founded in 2017, as part of an Anglo-American collaboration between the Charleston Library Society in the US and the Charleston Trust in the UK.
