Sun Country Airlines will offer nonstop service to the Charleston International Airport from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport beginning April 7, the carrier announced.
In release Nov. 26, the airport said introductory fares for the service will be as low as $89 one way, operating twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.
“With more folks eager to resume leisure travel, we’re excited to be able to offer them another option to get away this spring and summer to enjoy the historic and charming city of Charleston, South Carolina," said Sun Country Chief Revenue Officer Grant Whitney in the release. "We know there is pent-up demand for convenient, affordable travel, and we’re here to help folks enjoy the vacations they’ve been dreaming about."
The move comes as a part of a larger expansion from the airline, the release said. Eleven nonstop routes and seven new airports also have been announced as additions, with an extended booking calendar allowing travelers to plan and book flights through early September 2022.
With the new service, Sun Country will be the only carrier serving Charleston with nonstop service to the Twin Cities, the release said. The expansion will make the airport responsible for more than 100 routes and 80 airports in the United States, Mexico, Central America, Canada and the Caribbean.
Tickets for all routes are currently on sale online on the Sun Country website, according to the release.
