With COVID-19 cases sharply increasing, a public meeting intended to address the new public works project planned by Charleston County will be postponed.
The location of the meeting remains the same, and residents can still contact Charleston County Public Works virtually.
Charleston County Public Works will change the date of the previously scheduled Jan. 12 public meeting to February. All of the meeting materials are available online and can be read on the project’s website at BetterNorthBridge.com.
"The purpose of the public meeting is to offer information on the project’s development process, outline the criteria used to evaluate the proposed alternatives, gather public comments and provide next steps," a news release from Charleston County said. "Persons with disabilities or limited internet access who may require special accommodations should contact Project Manager Sheila Sororian at 843-202-7624."
The new date for the meeting is Wed., Feb. 16, from 4 to 7 p.m. It will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 1157 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard in Charleston. Face masks will be required at the meeting.
Charleston County is contemplating new ideas to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety and connectivity between North Charleston and West Ashley. The new project plans to construct a new bicycle and pedestrian bridge across the Ashley River and a new shared-use path linking the bridge to Azalea Drive in North Charleston.
