No. 4 on the South Carolina women's basketball team, Aliyah Boston, recently earned Southeastern Conference (SEC) Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week and fourth time this season.

Boston, the top-ranked Gamecocks' 6-foot-5 unstoppable junior forward, shares the recognition this week with Missouri’s Aijha Blackwell.

“Last week, Boston took sole ownership of, and then extended, the program record for consecutive double-doubles by posting her 10th and 11th in a row against Texas A&M and Arkansas, finishing the week with 19.0 points and 14.0 rebounds per game,” the university’s athletics website said in summarizing Boston’s high-caliber play.

In the Texas A&M game, Boston achieved her double-double in the first 13 minutes of the game. She finished with 19 points and 15 boards in the victory.

Against Arkansas, Boston's 19 points and 13 rebounds included an 11-point, six-rebound second quarter that helped open a nine-point halftime lead.

In the last quarter, Boston sank two big free throws to end a 15-0 Arkansas run that had cut the Gamecocks' lead to five. Boston's buckets from the charity stripe launched a 7-0 surge that closed out the win.

Blackwell offered tough competition for the honors. In her week’s worth of action, she averaged 26.5 points and 15 rebounds per game as the Tigers took on two top 15 opponents.

The Gamecocks (17-1 overall, 5-1 SEC) will host Vanderbilt at 7 p.m. Monday.
