City of Charleston issued the following announcement on March 15.
Applications are now open for rising 9th through 12th grade students in Charleston County interested in serving on the Mayor’s Youth Commission.
About the Commission: The Mayor’s Youth Commission gives young people a meaningful voice in developing solutions to youth-centric challenges. The Commission engages high school students from the Charleston area who then meet with Mayor Tecklenburg regularly to provide input and ideas regarding effective solutions to the most pressing issues facing young people.
Throughout the year, members will have the opportunity to participate in leadership trainings, team-building activities and community service events.
Membership details: The Commission convenes monthly. Meetings are typically held in the evening and are currently being conducted via Zoom.
Once accepted, members will serve a one-year term lasting from March 2022 to May 2023.
