Mount Pleasant, S.C. (July 20, 2022) - Owner Kristen Virgilio with family and staff, joined by Mayor Will Haynie and Councilmembers Laura Hyatt, John Iacofano, Howard Chapman, P.E., and Jake Rambo, partnering with Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Director Rebecca Imholz and fellow Chamber members, celebrated the grand opening of D1 Training East Cooper with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new business is located at 1220 Ben Sawyer Blvd.
D1 Training East Cooper is a fitness concept that offers training focused on exercising the entire body as a unit to produce optimal human performance. They utilize the 5 core tenets of athletic-based training: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength training, core and conditioning, and cool down. The training regimens are sports science-backed and led by a team of certified trainers who help guests of all ages achieve their fitness goals.
Both Kristen and her husband Joe grew up with families who owned businesses dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with their communities. Now, after living in Mount Pleasant for nearly 20 years, they are ready to do the same by opening D1 Training. Joining other franchise owners like professional athletes Tim Tebow, Michael Oher, and Super Bowl MVP Von Miller, Kristen and Joe are excited to serve Mount Pleasant and invite residents to join a team, not a gym.
"We were attracted to D1 Training because of the core values of the company and especially the level of quality training service it provides to kids", Kristen said. She continued "It is important to learn the proper way to train, and develop physically, to prevent injuries". D1 Training CEO Dan Murphy believes that Kristen and Joe are ideal to bring the D1 experience to Mount Pleasant due to their commitment to the community and their passion to help people meet their fitness goals.
