"The Nature of Charleston" by Dayton Bryan Stone III | Charleston County Public Library
Saul Alexander Gallery at Main- Dayton Bryan Stone III is an artist that works almost exclusively in black and white media and specializes in natural science and biological illustration. He has lived in the Charleston area since 1973. His formal education was in engineering at Midlands TEC, geology and anthropology at the College of Charleston, and he studied natural science illustration through George Washington University at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. He's worked for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources for twenty-seven years in marine science while doing natural science illustration and photography on the side. He has been juried in and participated in Spoleto, SEWE, the Charleston Art Guild Gallery as well as other smaller venues. "The Nature of Charleston" shares beautiful drawings using pen and ink, and pencil and carbon dust that bring life to the local Charleston wildlife and outdoors.
