Women make up majority of population in Charleston County in 2021

Of the 404,946 people living in Charleston County, South Carolina in 2021, 51.4% (208,169) were women and 48.6% (196,777) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by Charleston Reporter.

Data showed the average age for women in Charleston County in 2021 was 40 years, on par with the national average of 40 for women.

According to census data, women aged 18 and over outnumbered men in the same age group by 5,675. Meanwhile, in the 65 and over group, there were 29,822 men and 37,105 women.
