Congresswoman Nancy Mace has taken a firm stand against online sexual assault, pushing for stronger measures to prosecute offenders and protect victims. In a recent move, Congresswoman Mace unveiled two crucial pieces of legislation aimed at addressing this pressing issue.

Speaking about the urgency of the situation, Congresswoman Mace emphasized, "As the threat of online sexual assault continues to expand, it's imperative we take decisive action." She further reiterated the importance of ensuring safety for all individuals, stating, "Every individual deserves to feel safe, which is why our office remains dedicated to introducing legislation that delivers justice where it's needed most."

The legislation introduced by Congresswoman Mace includes the Increased Accountability for Nonconsensual Pornography Act of 2024 and the SUE Voyeurs Act. The Increased Accountability for Nonconsensual Pornography Act of 2024 seeks to ramp up penalties for perpetrators of nonconsensual pornography, increasing the deterrent from $150,000 to $500,000.

On the other hand, the SUE Voyeurs Act aims to provide a civil recourse for individuals whose intimate visual depictions are captured without consent in situations where privacy is expected. It allows for the recovery of damages, including liquidated damages of $150,000 per intimate visual depiction, along with legal costs. Additionally, the act safeguards the anonymity of plaintiffs by granting injunctive relief to maintain confidentiality through the use of pseudonyms.

By championing these legislative efforts, Congresswoman Mace is actively combatting sexual exploitation against women and children, with the bill strategically introduced on the final day of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. She calls on her fellow lawmakers to support these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of upholding the fundamental rights of privacy and dignity for all individuals.
