Charleston announces Juneteenth block party for MOJA Arts Festival anniversary

The City of Charleston’s Community Services Section will host a family-friendly block party on Wednesday, June 19th from 6:00-9:00 pm on King and Ann Streets Downtown. The event, titled Juneteenth on King, is part of the celebrations for the MOJA Arts Festival's 40th Anniversary season.

Juneteenth on King will include outdoor dining, live music, dancing, and artisan and crafts vendors. A music stage on Ann Street near the Visitor’s Center garage will feature performances by The Legacy of Motown Band and Deninufay African Drum and Dance.

Charlton Singleton, Artistic Director of the MOJA Arts Festival, stated, “The MOJA Arts Festival team has been working around the clock to curate one of our most ambitious Festivals to date. We invite everyone to our Juneteenth on King Block Party on June 19th as we celebrate and announce some of our main events for this historic 40th Anniversary of the MOJA Arts Festival!”

This block party marks the beginning of the 40th Anniversary season of the MOJA Arts Festival, which celebrates African American and Caribbean arts. Further details about this year’s festival lineup will be revealed on Tuesday, June 18. The 2024 MOJA Arts Festival is scheduled to take place from September 26 to October 6 in Charleston, SC.

- Visitor’s Center Garage at 63 Mary Street

- Midtown Garage at 558 King Street

- Marion Square Garage at 399 King Street
