Pfc. Christopher Brasseaux has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition for May 2024 by the NCPD. The honor acknowledges his efforts in researching, planning, and formulating a strategy to establish a support system for veterans within the department.
Officer Brasseaux identified a significant need for a Veteran Support Officer (VSO) position. Recognizing this need, he worked on his own time to create and ultimately get the position approved.
The newly established VSO role will assist with peer support, including helping officers during deployment, maintaining contact with deployed officers, reassuring veterans that they can discuss problems confidentially without repercussions, and providing other assistance and resources through the VA and SCVA.
