The City of Charleston is committed to ensuring the safety and preparedness of its residents for the upcoming 2024 hurricane season. To achieve this, the city is launching Hurricane Preparedness Week from July 15 to July 19. This week-long initiative will feature a variety of informative content including social media posts, a city newsletter, and educational videos, all aimed at providing residents with best practices for hurricane preparedness.

In partnership with local emergency management teams, Charleston Fire Department, and local chief meteorologists Rob Fowler from Channel 2, Dave Williams from Channel 4, and Bill Walsh from Channel 5, the city will deliver daily content packed with essential information to help residents stay safe.

Mayor William Cogswell emphasizes the importance of this initiative, stating, “Part of living in Charleston is understanding hurricanes and the risks they pose to our community. We want to make sure every resident feels equipped and informed to handle any potential storms. Hurricane Preparedness Week is an excellent opportunity for our community to come together, share knowledge, and take proactive steps to safeguard our families and homes.”

The City of Charleston encourages all residents to actively participate in Hurricane Preparedness Week. By engaging with the daily content and utilizing the resources provided, residents can significantly improve their readiness for the hurricane season.
