Charleston Police arrest suspect in South Street homicide

The Charleston Police Department has arrested a suspect for a homicide that occurred near a playground in downtown Charleston.

On June 10, 2024, shortly after 11 a.m., officers were dispatched to a playground on South Street for a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Charleston County EMS pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim was identified as David Williams, 25, by the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

Following the investigation, Lymik Nyshawn Pierce, 26, of Walterboro, was arrested on July 22, 2024, and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. He is currently in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
