Washington, D.C., September 9, 2024 — Congresswoman Nancy Mace, Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Government Innovation, has sent a letter to President Biden and Vice President Harris seeking answers on alleged information suppression campaigns conducted by the Administration, particularly in the lead-up to national elections.

"The American people deserve transparency. Plain and simple. It's outrageous this Administration continues to meddle with what we see and hear on social media," said Congresswoman Nancy Mace. "In the middle of an election cycle, we cannot afford another episode of government interference that manipulates Big Tech at the expense of voters."

The letter requests:

- All communications between federal employees and social media companies concerning the concealment or suppression of information on their platforms.

- All internal discussions between federal employees about coordinating with social media companies or any private sector entity to suppress or censor content.

- Details on suppression efforts conducted by the Administration from January 1, 2024, to the present.

The letter follows new revelations from Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who disclosed that senior officials in the Biden White House pressured Facebook to censor COVID-19-related content. This comes after earlier reports of federal interference in social media platforms, including censorship of the Hunter Biden laptop story.
