The Citadel baseball team lost to Wofford by a score of 6-5 on April 11 at Russell C. King Stadium.

The game was marked by a late rally from The Citadel, but the effort fell short in the final innings. The loss brings The Citadel’s record to 16-18 overall and 3-5 in Southern Conference play, while Wofford improves to 24-11 overall and 7-1 in conference games.

Sam Dansky led The Citadel with two hits, including a double, and drove in one run. Aryan Patel contributed with an RBI single and scored twice, while Jayden Williams recorded two hits and extended his on-base streak to twenty games, the longest for the team this season. Christian Stratis also crossed home plate twice for the Bulldogs.

Michael Gibson started on the mound for The Citadel, allowing five earned runs over four innings. CJ Van Slooten came on in relief for 2.1 innings, giving up one run, before Zane Davis closed out the game without allowing any further runs over the final stretch.

Head coach Russell Triplett said: “Too many free bases and lack of offensive execution was the difference in the game. We continued to struggle to get a big hit with runners in scoring position but had really good AB’s late that we can build on into tomorrow.”

For Wofford, Andrew Mannelly went two-for-two at bat with two RBIs and scored twice. Cullen Condon picked up the win after pitching five innings and allowing only one earned run. Champ Davis secured the save by closing out the ninth inning.

The series between The Citadel and Wofford will conclude at Russell C. King Field at 1 p.m., Sunday.
