The Citadel Bulldogs will travel to Columbia, South Carolina, to face the South Carolina Gamecocks for a midweek baseball game scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at Founders Park. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
This matchup brings together The Citadel (21-22, 6-9 Southern Conference) and the Gamecocks (22-23, 7-14 Southeastern Conference), continuing a long-standing series between the two teams. According to the team’s announcement, the all-time series stands at 145-51-1 in favor of South Carolina. The Bulldogs previously defeated the Gamecocks this season with an 8-3 win on March 10.
Trip Brown is expected to start on the mound for The Citadel with a record of one win and three losses and an earned run average of 5.23. Josh Gunther will start for South Carolina with two wins, three losses, and a 7.75 ERA. The game will be broadcast live on SECN+, and radio coverage will be provided by Brian Giffin through local stations.
South Carolina comes into this contest after taking two out of three games in its recent conference series against Kentucky. Talmadge LeCroy leads their offense with a .286 batting average and shares the team lead in runs batted in with KJ Scobey at twenty-eight each.
For The Citadel, Michael Gibson was named Southern Conference Player of the Week after hitting .500 over four games last week and earning his fifth save of the season—second most in the conference. Christian Stratis has also been productive recently, batting .393 over his last fifteen games.
Looking ahead, The Citadel is scheduled to play Presbyterian College over three games this coming weekend.
