Charleston Southern lost to The Citadel on April 14 in their second matchup of the season, with the Bulldogs winning by a score of 15-5. The Citadel secured the victory after scoring eleven runs in the fifth inning.

The game began with Charleston Southern taking an early lead, scoring one run in the bottom of the first. The Citadel responded by putting up two runs in the top of the second, but Charleston Southern regained control with two more runs in their half of that inning for a brief 3-2 advantage.

Momentum shifted as The Citadel added single runs in both the third and fourth innings before breaking out for eleven runs in the fifth, extending their lead to 15-3. Charleston Southern managed to add two more runs in the bottom of the seventh but could not avoid a run-rule finish after seven innings.

Kain Collins led Charleston Southern offensively with two hits and two runs scored. The team finished with seven hits and five walks overall. Caden Wolfley and Cross Yarborough each recorded two RBIs; Yarborough hit his first career home run during the contest.

On the mound, Charleston Southern used seven pitchers throughout the game. Zach Stichweh started and pitched two innings—the longest outing among them—while Kayden Althoff threw a scoreless seventh inning as he was alone among Buccaneer pitchers not to allow any runs.

Charleston Southern will continue its homestand this weekend against High Point at Nielsen Field at CSU Ballpark, beginning Friday at 6 p.m., with coverage available live on ESPN+.
