The Citadel men’s basketball team will travel to Cullowhee, North Carolina, to face Western Carolina in a Southern Conference matchup on Wednesday, February 11. The game is set for 6:00 p.m. ET at the Liston B. Ramsey Regional Activity Center and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
The Bulldogs, with a record of 9–16 overall and 6–6 in conference play, recently secured a 78–71 win on the road against Chattanooga. In that game, The Citadel shot 50 percent from the field and had four players score in double figures. Braxton Williams and Sola Adebisi each scored 18 points, Carter Kingsbury contributed 16 points, and Eze Wali added 11 points along with five assists. The victory brought The Citadel’s conference record to an even .500.
The last meeting between these two teams took place on January 10 in Charleston, where The Citadel overcame a second-half deficit to defeat Western Carolina 79–77 in overtime. That result started a run during which the Bulldogs have won six of their last nine games, including other overtime victories against Furman and UNCG.
For the season so far, Williams leads The Citadel with an average of 13.3 points per game. Kingsbury averages 9.6 points per contest and is among the team leaders in assists. Adebisi leads the team in rebounding at 6.3 per game and has recorded a team-high 25 blocked shots while shooting nearly 60 percent from the field. Wali leads in both assists (62) and steals (23).
As a team, The Citadel averages just over 70 points per game while shooting about 42 percent from the field and making approximately nine three-pointers per contest.
Western Carolina enters this matchup following a recent loss to Wofford by a score of 77–66. Over their first 23 games this season, the Catamounts are averaging nearly 78 points per game but allow just over 80 points to opponents on average. They are shooting slightly above 44 percent from the field and collect almost 39 rebounds per contest.
Marcus Kell is Western Carolina’s top scorer at just under 14 points per game, with Cord Stansberry close behind at about the same mark and Julien Soumaoro adding more than eleven points each outing. Samuel Dada leads their rebounding efforts with over seven boards per game.
Western Carolina maintains an average rebounding margin of plus-4.7 this season and makes more than eight three-pointers per contest.
