The Citadel hosts Samford as both teams continue Southern Conference play

The Citadel men’s basketball team will continue its Southern Conference schedule by hosting Samford on Thursday, February 19 at McAlister Field House. The game is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

The Citadel, currently holding a record of 9–18 overall and 6–8 in conference play, comes into the matchup after a 70–54 home loss to Mercer last Saturday. In their previous meeting with Samford earlier this month in Birmingham, The Citadel was defeated 78–64. During that game, The Citadel shot 44.1 percent from the field and made ten three-pointers.

Braxton Williams leads The Citadel in scoring with an average of 13 points per game and holds one of the top free throw percentages in the conference at 82.3 percent. Christian Moore contributes an average of 11.2 points per contest and leads the team with fifty made three-pointers, ranking third in the Southern Conference for three-point percentage among eligible players at 39.7 percent. Carter Kingsbury adds an average of 9.3 points per game and has tallied fifty assists this season.

Sola Adebisi is The Citadel’s leading rebounder with six rebounds per game, along with twenty-five blocked shots while shooting nearly fifty-nine percent from the field. Eze Wali leads the team in both assists (sixty-three) and steals (twenty-three).

As a unit, The Citadel averages just over sixty-nine points per game while shooting forty-one point eight percent from the field and thirty-two point four percent from beyond the arc.

Samford enters Thursday’s contest following a recent win against Furman, where they secured a 69–64 victory at home on February 11. With an overall record of fifteen wins and twelve losses (8–6 SoCon), Samford averages seventy-seven point seven points per game while allowing seventy-five point three to opponents. They are shooting forty-three point seven percent from the field and thirty-four point eight percent from three-point range.

Jadin Booth is Samford’s top scorer at twenty point six points per game, while Dylan Faulkner averages seventeen point six points along with seven point eight rebounds each contest. As a team, Samford records an average of three blocks per game.
