The Citadel to honor seniors as it hosts Chattanooga in SoCon matchup

The Citadel men’s basketball team will host Chattanooga on Saturday, February 21, at McAlister Field House in Charleston. The game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time and will be part of the Southern Conference schedule. Before the game, The Citadel will recognize its seniors: Christian Moore, Logan Applegate, Sola Adebisi, Braxton Williams, Carter Kingsbury, Simeon German and Rowan Irelan.

The Citadel enters the matchup with a record of 9–19 overall and 6–9 in conference play. In their most recent outing, they lost to Samford 78–75 at home. Braxton Williams led the Bulldogs with 22 points—his seventh game this season scoring at least 20 points. Sola Adebisi contributed 13 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Christian Moore added 12 points and made three shots from beyond the arc. The team had only six turnovers during the game, their lowest total in Southern Conference play this year.

In their previous meeting on February 7 in Chattanooga, The Citadel won 78–71 on the road. Four players scored in double figures for The Citadel during that contest, shooting an even 50 percent from the field and converting eleven out of thirteen free throws.

Over the course of twenty-eight games this season, Braxton Williams leads The Citadel with an average of 13.5 points per game. Sola Adebisi is leading in rebounds with an average of 6.1 per contest and also tops the team in blocks (27) and steals (29). Eze Wali has provided a team-high sixty-five assists so far this season. Christian Moore leads with fifty-six made three-pointers while shooting nearly forty percent from long range; Carter Kingsbury has added fifty-two assists and averages just under nine points per game.

As a unit, The Citadel averages just over sixty-nine points per contest while shooting nearly forty-two percent from the field and about thirty-three percent from three-point distance.

Chattanooga comes into Saturday’s matchup following a recent win against Mercer on February 19 by a score of ninety-four to ninety on the road; prior to that victory they lost to Western Carolina at home by five points.

For Chattanooga’s season through twenty-eight games, they are averaging almost seventy-five points per game while allowing just over seventy-two points defensively. Their field goal percentage stands at forty-five percent overall and thirty-four-and-a-half percent from beyond the arc.

Honor Huff is Chattanooga’s top scorer with an average of sixteen-point-two points per game; Jake Stephens follows with thirteen-point-eight points per contest and leads in rebounding at nearly seven boards each outing. Jamal Johnson is distributing four-point-one assists per game for Chattanooga.
