Charleston Southern University junior guard Tyonna Bailey has received her second Big South Player of the Week award this season. The recognition comes after Bailey delivered two strong performances last week, averaging 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and four three-pointers per game.
Bailey began the week with a 25-point effort in 32 minutes against High Point, also contributing four rebounds and three three-pointers. She then scored 28 points and collected nine rebounds in a road win over USC Upstate, making five shots from beyond the arc. This helped Charleston Southern secure its fifth Big South Conference victory of the season by a margin of 23 points.
These games marked Bailey’s seventh and eighth appearances this year with at least 20 points scored. The team will next face UNC Asheville on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Buc Dome.
“Bailey caught fire over the week, averaging 26.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 4.0 three-pointers made to lead the Buccaneers,” according to Monday’s announcement.
“She followed with a dominant road performance Friday at USC Upstate, erupting for a game-high 28 points and pulling down nine rebounds. Bailey drilled five three-pointers in the contest, powering CSU to a 23-point road victory and its fifth Big South Conference win of the season.”
“With her performances, Bailey recorded her seventh and eighth 20-point games of the year, continuing to establish herself as one of the league’s most productive scorers.”
The Buccaneers aim to continue their success in their upcoming matchup against UNC Asheville.
