Warming centers to open January 24 due to forecasted cold weather

Two warming centers will open on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in response to expected cold weather conditions. The centers are intended to provide overnight shelter for individuals and families in need.

The Holy City Missions at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, located at 1444 Remount Road in North Charleston, will accept men, women, and children. Admission is available from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Pets are not allowed at this location. Transportation is provided by CARTA Route 13 with drop-off and pick-up at Remount Road and Allison Avenue. Seacoast Church – Summerville Campus, at 301 E. 5th North Street in Summerville, will also serve as a warming center with admission hours from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Unlike the other location, pets are permitted here. Those seeking transportation can board CARTA Route 10 outbound at either Meeting Street and Sheppard Street or Meeting Street and Johnson Street and should inform the driver of their destination. Passengers will transfer to TriCounty Link at the T-Mobile location at 8751 Rivers Avenue with pick-up times scheduled for 4:10 p.m., 5:16 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. The contact number for this site is (843) 486-0193.
