Charleston County Parks issued the following announcement.
Happy National Lighthouse Day!
The Morris Island Lighthouse is visible from the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve at the northeastern end of Folly Island.
The lighthouse is the third one to occupy the site just off the coast and was operated for the first time on October 1, 1876.
