Minor League Baseball announced Charleston RiverDogs infielder Tanner Murray the Low-A East Player of the Week for Aug. 30-Sept. 5.
The Santa Clara, California, native was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the fourth round of the 2020 MLB draft out of UC Davis. This is his first season as a pro.
Murray batting .355 with two homer and 20 RBIs through 22 games with the RiverDogs. He's also recorded 11 doubles, seven walks and two stolen bases.
“Congrats to Tanner Murray on being named Low-A East Player of the Week today! Murray was 14-29 at the plate in Columbia last week. He becomes our eighth player to receive a weekly honor,” the Charleston RiverDogs said in a Sept. 6 Facebook post.
Other RiverDogs who have received player of the week recognition this season include infielders Curtis Mead (twice) and Brett Wisely, and catcher/outfielder Heriberto Hernandez. John Doxakis, Andrew Gross and Trey Cumbie have all received the weekly recognition for pitching.
