Mount Pleasant issued the following announcement on December 17.
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (December 17, 2021) – Mount Pleasant Councilmember Gary Santos recently spearheaded an effort to provide more track time for walkers and runners during the holiday season. Following up on his request, the Charleston County School District (CCSD) has approved the public use of the Lucy Beckham High School Track, from December 17 through January 3, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., daily. The track will be closed December 23, 24, 25, and 31 for the holidays.
“Lucy Beckham’s long tradition of partnering with the Town of Mount Pleasant on many recreational projects lives on,” said Mount Pleasant Councilmember Gary Santos. “The track of her namesake high school will be open during the better part of the holiday season. It will provide the general public walking and running opportunities. I would like to commend CCSD for their proactive stance on recreation and for once again partnering with the Town of Mount Pleasant for the benefit of our residents.”
Patrons are reminded that the use of the football field is not permitted. No restrooms will be available to the public. For more information about the use of the high school track during the nightly hours, call Mount Pleasant Athletic Division Chief Matt Hansen with any questions or concerns at (843) 296-9981.
