Fall Family Fun at Sunday’s Children’s Day Festival

Fall has arrived, which means it’s time for the 35th Annual Town of Mount Pleasant Children’s Day Festival presented by Publix at the Park West Recreation Complex this Sunday, Oct. 16 from noon to 5 p.m.

Admission and all activities are free! Families of all ages will enjoy carnival and pony rides, a petting zoo, live entertainment, giant inflatables, games with lots of prizes, face painting, and much more!

Free parking is available next to the complex at Cario, Charles Pinckney and Laurel Hill schools, as well as the office complex where Kid’s Teeth is located at 1130 Professional Lane. A sidewalk cut-through provides easy walking access from the schools, and shuttle buses will run throughout the event from all parking areas. The only public parking available at the recreation complex is for those with disability plates or placards.

“Children’s Day is a great chance for parents to reconnect with their inner child while creating lasting memories with their kids,” said Community Affairs & Marketing Division Chief Nicole Harvey. “Sponsors, schools and local nonprofits offer tons of activities and games that are sure to fill the air with laughter.”

Local and professional artists, dance groups, cheer squads and more will entertain festival-goers throughout the event on the East Cooper Medical Center stage.

Some of the day’s highlights will include Good Clean Fun’s Bubble Therapy, performances by King of Kazoo Rick Hubbard, unicyclist and juggler Mark Lippard, balloon artists and face painters. The Mount Pleasant Fire, Police and Public Services Departments will have trucks, vehicles, equipment, and more fun stuff on display all day!

You also want to be sure to catch the performance by MPRD’s Team Swagger - Unified Hip Hop immediately following Mayor Will Haynie’s opening remarks at noon.

“The entire community works together to bring this wonderfully unique, fun-filled day to life,” said Harvey. “Children’s Day would not be possible without all of our generous sponsors and volunteers.”

Publix Super Markets returns for its seventh year as Presenting Sponsor, East Cooper Medical Center returns for its 17th year as the Stage Sponsor, and the town is happy to welcome 101.7 Chuck FM back to the festival.

Food and concessions will be sold by Chopped & Topped, Happy Thai, Mazycks Grille, Motley Chew, Zeus Grill, Mikes Chicken Salad, Charleston Crepe Company, T&T Kettle Korn, Pelican Sno Balls, The Ice Cream Team, and King of Pops.

Pets are not permitted at this event. For more information, visit ExperienceMountPleasant.com/play or the event page at Facebook.com/MountPleasantRec.
