The City of Charleston is taking proactive measures to assist residents during inclement weather by offering free storm parking in designated parking garages. In light of the impending storm, several city parking garages will be open to the public for free parking. The following garages are available for use:

- Aquarium parking garage (24 Calhoun Street)

- Queen Street parking garage (93 Queen Street)

- East Bay/Prioleau parking garage (25 Prioleau Street)

- 99 West Edge parking garage (99 West Edge Street)

- Charleston Tech Center parking garage (997 Morrison Drive)

"To take advantage of the free storm parking, cars must be parked after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 9th, and removed by 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 10th."

The city authorities have specified that the free parking offer is applicable for cars only and does not extend to boats, trailers, or golf carts.

Entrance and exit procedures for the designated city garages during the free storm parking period have been outlined:

- Entrance is permitted starting at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9th, with vehicles needing to be removed by 10:00 AM on Sunday, March 10th to qualify for free parking.

- Upon entry, drivers are required to pull a ticket, and attendants will be present at the exit gate by 10:00 AM on Sunday to assist with swiping out storm parkers.

- In the event of no attendant present, individuals are advised to press the black "assistance" button on the call box for help.

- Drivers are instructed to state they were parking to avoid flooding, provide their name and address when requested, and insert their ticket into the machine if not already done so.

- The attendant will then raise the gate for the driver to exit.

As the City of Charleston prepares for potential flooding and challenging weather conditions, the provision of free storm parking in designated garages aims to alleviate concerns for residents.
