North Charleston, Apr 12 2024 - In a recent report, the authorities in North Charleston have announced a positive trend in crime rates for the first three months of 2024. According to the agency, both violent and non-violent crimes have seen a decrease, reflecting a positive development for the community.

Violent crime in the city has decreased by 3% compared to the same period last year. Despite a slight increase in the number of murders, the report highlights a 5% decrease in aggravated assaults. Notably, the number of rapes has seen a significant drop of 23%, indicating progress in addressing such crimes.

However, the report also notes an increase in robberies by 10%, with business robberies showing a substantial 67% rise. On the non-violent crime front, there has been a 7% decrease overall. Burglaries have decreased by 6%, including a noteworthy 50% decrease in business burglaries.

The agency also pointed out that gun arrests have increased by 6%, underscoring their commitment to ensuring community safety. Furthermore, there has been a significant increase in DUI arrests by 84% and narcotics arrests by 26%, showing proactive measures in tackling substance-related crimes.

The authorities have reassured the public that their officers will continue to work diligently to uphold a safe and secure environment for all residents and citizens in North Charleston.
