Congresswoman Nancy Mace, a member of the House Committee on Government Oversight and Accountability, will participate in a hearing titled “Standing up for the Rule of Law: Ending Illegal Racial Discrimination and Protecting Men and Women in U.S. Employment Practices.” The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. ET in Room 2154 of the Rayburn House Office Building.
“The great American workforce thrives on opportunity and merit, not the divisive and damaging DEI initiatives that prioritize identity over ability. It is crucial to uphold the rule of law,” said Rep. Mace’s Communications Director Gabrielle Lipsky.
The hearing will focus on recent developments related to the enforcement of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). In light of the Supreme Court's recent decision against race-based admissions policies, it will also address a letter from 13 state Attorneys General urging Fortune 100 CEOs to adopt race-neutral employment practices. Additionally, it will examine new EEOC guidance on sex-based discrimination that has raised concerns about workplace safety and enforcement related to pronoun usage and access to gender-specific facilities.
Key witnesses scheduled to testify include:
- The Honorable Todd Rokita, Attorney General of Indiana
- Jonathan Berry, Managing Partner at Boyden Gray PLLC
- Inez Feltscher Stepman, Senior Policy and Legal Analyst at the Independent Women’s Forum
