On August 27, 2024, the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD) announced that Patrol Officer Brianna Francis has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition for June 2024. The award follows her actions on June 16, when she and assisting units responded to a reported burglary in progress at Boost Mobile on Rivers Avenue.

According to reports, the masked suspect was seen on camera breaking into the business. Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter around the building. Officer Francis noticed a broken glass window at the front door and signaled to another officer.

As she approached the business, Officer Francis observed the masked suspect jumping from bushes in front of the building and running across Rivers Avenue. She apprehended him as he attempted to climb a fence surrounding Horizon Village. The suspect was subsequently charged with Burglary Second Degree and taken to Al Cannon Detention Center.
