NCPD officers honored for lifesaving actions in August

Officers Lucas Searles and Andrew Marshall have been recognized with the Life Saving Award for August 2024. The award comes after their response to a potentially life-threatening situation on August 4.

The incident occurred at the Family Dollar on University Boulevard, where the officers were called for a possible suicidal person. They found the individual on a nearby street, who threatened to harm himself with a razor blade.

Officer Searles engaged the individual, keeping his attention. When the man attempted to use the razor on his wrist, Officer Marshall used his taser, effectively preventing a potential tragedy.

The subject expressed gratitude towards the officers for saving his life. This event highlighted effective teamwork in averting a tragic outcome.
