Rep. Nancy Mace has issued a statement criticizing Charleston County Sheriff Kristin Graziano for her policies on sanctuary practices. According to Mace, these policies are putting the lives of South Carolinians at risk by allowing criminal illegal aliens to be released into the community.
"Sanctuary Sheriff Kristin Graziano cannot justify her morally reprehensible sanctuary policies endangering the lives of South Carolinians," Mace stated. "Instead of taking accountability for her actions, she has decided to engage in a personal attack against me and deflect from the simple truth: Sanctuary Sheriff Graziano has chosen to release criminal illegal aliens – including an alleged pedophile – into our community."
Sheriff Graziano has acknowledged that she does not honor ICE detainer requests unless certain conditions are met, citing department policy as her reason. Mace pointed out that Graziano herself wrote this policy.
"The kicker, she wrote the department policy. It doesn’t have to be this way," Mace added. "No matter how many facts she twists, Sanctuary Sheriff Graziano has released dangerous criminal illegal aliens into our communities, a fact she has not disputed."
This statement underscores ongoing tensions regarding sanctuary policies and their impact on local communities.
