Charleston police investigate fatal shooting on Savannah Highway

The Charleston Police Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Savannah Highway. The incident took place on October 3, 2024, shortly after 8:30 p.m. Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the northbound lanes near the intersection of Bees Ferry Road.

Upon arrival, police found a work van parked at the side of the road. The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead at the scene. The suspect or suspects had fled before officers arrived.

The identity of the victim will be disclosed by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office when appropriate.

As part of their investigation, detectives and crime scene investigators temporarily closed the northbound lanes of Savannah Highway to gather evidence.

No arrests have been made so far, and authorities state there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
