Charleston, SC – The Charleston Police Department has made an arrest in the fatal shooting that occurred on Savannah Highway. On October 3, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the northbound lanes of Savannah Highway near Bees Ferry Road. They found a work van with its driver deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The suspect had left the scene before police arrived.
This afternoon, authorities arrested Samuel Antonio Cooper, age 26, from Savannah, Georgia. He faces charges of murder and is currently held in Georgia awaiting extradition.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the victim's identity later.
