Members of the South Carolina State House have filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to investigate Sheriff Kristin Graziano. The sheriff has been described as "uncooperative" by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Congresswoman Nancy Mace expressed her support for the investigation, emphasizing the need for transparency regarding the release of criminal illegal aliens. "Lowcountry residents deserve to know why criminal illegal aliens are being released back on our streets, and at a bare minimum Sanctuary Sheriff Kristin Graziano should have to explain her policies to Lowcountry residents," stated Mace.

Mace further endorsed the efforts of lawmakers seeking clarity on what she referred to as "Sanctuary Sheriff Graziano’s dangerous policies." She criticized these policies for allegedly putting residents at risk by not addressing concerns about criminal illegal aliens effectively.
