North Charleston calls for submissions for arts fest poster design competition

The City of North Charleston is inviting visual artists from South Carolina to join the 42nd Annual North Charleston Arts Fest Poster Design Competition. The winning artwork will be used as the official poster for the 2025 North Charleston Arts Fest, scheduled from April 30 to May 4. This artwork will appear on promotional materials such as posters, billboards, and advertisements across various media.

The selected artist will receive a $1000 purchase award and a solo exhibition at Park Circle Gallery in May 2025. Additionally, their piece will join the City of North Charleston’s Public Art Collection displayed in City Hall. Artists have until December 15, 2024, to submit their entries.

Participation in the competition is free and open to South Carolina residents aged 18 and older. Acceptable mediums include acrylic, oil, drawing, pastel, watercolor, fiber, printmaking, and two-dimensional mixed media. Submissions are limited to three pieces per artist and must be entered online at http://NorthCharlestonCulturalArtsDepartment.Slideroom.com by the deadline.

The North Charleston Arts Fest is organized by the City's Cultural Arts Department. This annual event showcases regional talent across dance, music, theatre, visual art, media art, and literature. It has been providing accessible arts programming for over four decades and attracts audiences from across the Southeast with its diverse performances and activities held in venues like libraries and community centers.

Past winners of this competition include Jirah Perkins (2024), Christopher Dotson (2023), Deborah Kinard (2022), Christine Bush Roman (2020/2021), Joseph Kameen (2019), Hamed Mahmoodi (2018), Judy McSween (2017), Lisa Shimko (2016), Karole Turner Campbell (KTC) (2015); and Amiri Gueka Farris (2014).
